On 3rd May, just two weeks after the close of the official consultation period for the closure of Watford Met station, a notice was posted in the Official Journal for the European Union (OJEU) by Hertfordshire County Council seeking a contractor for the £80m Croxley Rail Link in Watford – now that’s what I call fast-track!
But hold on a minute… “what about the consultation?” I hear you say – did no-one object? They certainly did and you can read the selection of objections listed on CRL’s web site – the most potent of these come from Councillors Jeffree & Derbyshire to whom thanks are due. Do let them know your thoughts. But clearly Herts CC and London Underground seem to think these need not hold up the procurement of a contractor to build the scheme!
Despite the information published on the CRL web site, it’s not too late to send your objections to the proposed closure of Watford Met to firstname.lastname@example.org and don’t forget to e-mail Watford’s MP: email@example.com – despite supporting the Croxley Rail Link’s funding bid last year he tells me he’s keen to find a way of keeping Watford Met open.
And finally there is talk of a public meeting to be held on 14th/15th June at Watford Colosseum (to be confirmed – watch this space) don’t miss this chance to air your views!
